My research focuses on the interplay of bottom-up and top-down processes with reward in visual selection. Especially, I am interested in the underlying neurophysiological and neurochemical mechanisms, both in healthy subjects and in patients with schizophrenia.
My long-term goal is to better understand how specific disturbances of these mechanisms are causing specific psychopathological symptoms and how they can be modulated in order to develop new treatment strategies. Therefore, I combine psychophysics and pharmacological modulation with simultaneous EEG-fMRI, MR Spectroscopy and non-invasive brain stimulation techniques such as TMS and tACS.
