Short info
My research is aimed at understanding the brain mechanisms underlying higher cognitive abilities such as language comprehension and visual word recognition, cognitive flexibility, and cognitive stability. My lab also investigates neurobiological bases underlying individual differences in general cognitive ability (intelligence). To this end, we use non-invasive neuroimaging methods, in particular functional magnetic resonance imaging and electrophysiology. I am also the speaker of the recently funded DFG Research Unit “Abstract Representations in Neural Architectures”, in which we will aim to explore more systematically the commonalities and differences between representations in the human brain and deep neural network models from artificial intelligence.
