Prof. Dr. Karl Gegenfurtner receives the 2024 Verriest medal

During the 27th International Colour Vision Society (ICVS) Symposium in Ljubljana, Prof. Dr. Karl Gegenfurtner was awarded the prestigious 2024 Verriest Medal. The award was established in 1991 in memory of the founder of the Society, Dr. Guy Verriest, and honours outstanding contributions in the field of colour vision.

Prof. Gegenfurtner, who teaches at the Justus-Liebig-University Giessen, is internationally recognized for his groundbreaking work in the field of visual perception. His research particularly focuses on the investigation of color and motion perception as well as visual processing in complex environments. Through his work, he has deepened the understanding of how the human brain interprets and processes colors and movements. His research findings have far-reaching implications for both fundamental research and applied science, particularly in the fields of neurobiology, psychology, and computer vision.

By awarding the Verriest Medal, the ICVS acknowledges Prof. Gegenfurtner's outstanding scientific contributions and his dedication to fostering scientific exchange.
