ERC Grant for UMR Researcher Mareike Grotheer
EU funds research on robotic embodied intelligence with 1.5 million euros
The "Europäische Forschungsrat" has awarded Dr. Mareike Grotheer a prestigious "ERC Starting Grant" and is funding the project "WRAPPED – Wrap It Up: Deciphering experience-dependent myelin growth across development" with a total of 1.5 million euros over a period of five years. This will further strengthen UMR's activities in human learning and development.
The aim of the project is to investigate the relationship between learning and the structural and functional characteristics of the developing brain. Specifically, the project focuses on the role of myelin in learning and maturation processes, which will be investigated by functional magnetic resonance imaging of adult, children and baby brains during the acquirement of new skills.
