Mechanisms of perception

DFG extends Collaborative Research Centre of the Universities of Gießen and Marburg - Another success of the Mittelhessen Research Campus

The sense organs are the "window to the world", they enable us to receive stimuli from the environment. But how does the brain process and interpret this information? How does perception work? The interdisciplinary Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio 135 "Cardinal Mechanisms of Perception: Prediction, Evaluation, Categorisation" has been working on these questions for eight years now. The DFG has now decided to extend the CRC until 2025. The spokesperson for the interdisciplinary CRC is the psychologist Prof. Dr. Karl Gegenfurtner from Giessen; the other members of the managing committee are Dr. Jutta Billino, Psychology (Justus-Liebig University Giessen, JLU), Prof. Dr. Frank Bremmer, Neurophysics (Philipps University Marburg, UMR), Prof. Dr. Katja Fiehler, General Psychology (JLU), Prof. Dr. Anna Schubö, Psychology (UMR), Prof. Dr. Alexander Schütz, Psychology (UMR) and Prof. Dr. Gudrun Schwarzer, Developmental Psychology (JLU).
